CT DUers - Do we want to do a picnic meet-up in May or so?
We could go to one of our wonderful parks (if the state budget allows them to be opened)and do a potluck kind of thing. There would be no alcohol, as I believe it is no longer allowed in the parks. I think the park thing would be good for those of us with kids. Let me know what you think. As a suggestion, People's Forest and Penwood have covered picnic areas baseball field (or at least open fields that could be utilized for some type of ball game). If you have a place in mind, we can poll it to decide.

Thanks!

5. Penwoods is in Bloomfield and Peoples is in Barkhamsted
I also found out today that there is no longer an alcohol ban in all the parks -- so we can legally do a BYOB. Here's a link to our parks web site:

http://dep.state.ct.us/stateparks/search.htm

I will try to put up a poll. I am in the middle of planning a "work" dinner, a "work" picnic and a "work" dinner cruise. Please forgive me if I move rather sporadically at this. I will try to get a park poll and a date poll up this weekend. We may want to look at June also.

Please give me ideas!!!!

8. Big range...
My daughter's 13 and my boys are 9, 6 (7 next month), and 3 (4 in June). Yes, I have spawned massively. I rather enjoy mommyhood though. I even work in pediatric medicine now and worked with kids prior. :)

10. Of course.
They are all rather quirky, energetic, liberal, and smart just like mom and dad (whose relationship was always great on paper if not terrible in our interpersonal dynamics).

Just tell us what to bring. The bar things in Boston are fun, but a family-type day would be a nice change of pace.

Actually, if it's less than about 20 people, we might think about inviting you all here. Big swingset in the back yard with a nice slide and a sandbox....

14. Hey Redstone. I, for one, would like to see you there...
After all the drunkeness in Bean Town last weekend, it might be nice to do something a little quieter and more pastoral for a change.

Hell, I might even bring my pastels and a sketch book and draw the landscape.

I hope DODI gets this together. In the meantime, I'm looking to organize some thing this summer in western Mass...

15. Could we do something downstate?
There's Sleeping Giant park in Hamden, close to New Haven. There's also Anna Liffey's in New Haven, a great Irish pub right on Whitney Avenue. There used to be lots of meet-ups for Wes Clark there.

20. Chatfield Hollow in Killingworth is nice also.
A small lake and stream for swimming or fishing. Plenty of picnic tables and trails for hiking off the food afterwords.

21. Sorry to be so late in responding
I just got back from Texas because my mother passed away.

I would love to get together in Sleeping Giant Park or Anna Liffey's. I don't know Sleeping Giant Park at all, except that it's local to me. Does anyone know where a site might be there? I actually have Memorial Day weekend free and the first weekend in June, as well as the end of June.

Anybody, let me know if you are interested. I can be called upon to arrange a site for a group. Would love to meet other CT DUers!

23. would love a picnic
Sleeping Giant in Hamden is good. Also love Edgerton Park in New Haven--no tables or grills, but a lovely, small, pastoral park that works for picnic blankets and lounging on the grass. :-) It's on Whitney Ave. in NH, just over the Hamden line.
