The impeachment has been focused strictly on Rowland, though I'm guessing that Jodi Rell (the Lt Gov) is damaged goods just for the connection to Rowland and will only serve out the term - maybe Nancy Johnson or Rob Simmons runs in 2006 for the Republicans?

The big question is does Blumenthal run for governor 2006, or does he go for Lieberman's seat if Lieby retires?

I need some help here, but the details are something like this: her son was 'found' to be in possesion of a stolen jet-ski on Candlewood Lake. The bigger blot was the way the CT DEP officer(s) was dealt with - either fired or put on administrative leave (like we have enough DEP field officers that we can let them go for doing their job?) but then quietly re-hired when a scandal began to foment.

My facts are somewhat fuzzy here- maybe some in better control of the real facts can provide a link?

The Ct. Dem party kept on putting really bad candidates on the ballot. They put a guy named Curry on the ballot at least twice, maybe three times. He lost everytime. I figured they'ld get the clue after he lost once.

The state Republican party knows it's not going to gain legislative power anytime soon, so they put ALL their resources into the governor's races. They can bring in quasi-celebrities like Mitt Romney, and work their asses off to get him 50-point-something percent of the vote.

The Democrats have a lot of power already, so they just don't try as hard with the governor's race. They put weak candidates on the ballot, often out of a sense of obligation.

rosa delauro seemed to be the only one who actually got out there and tried to help her constituents.....

with rowland....he brought in income tax....and there still is not money for state......they used it to give themselves raises....gave money away to Enron, and Pratt Whitney.....while both of those companies gave it to the CEO and not the workers....

The state legislature here in CT is overwhelmingly Democratic... I think both houses are in excess of 60%, but I'm not sure. However, when Bill Curry ran in 2002, nobody in the statelegislature backed him strongly.

Colin McEnroe of WTIC speculated, if I recall, that many of them knew the financial crisis that was coming and that they would have been held to blame if they pointed it out. So, Curry was the lone voice in the woods and that made him sound like the boy who was crying wolf.

Hi all... CT expatriate here! Question for you all... do you think that this will have any effect on either the presidential race, generally, or specifically given his relationship w/the Bush* campaign, or on the down ticket races? When is the governorship up for re-election.

16. It won't effect Bush

Shrub never had a ghost of a chance here anyways. Kerry's up by 10 points in the Quinnepiac poll in Ct and I'd be surprised if it even endsd up that close.

Hopefully it'll have an effect on some (federal) House races, although to tell you the truth, I'm not sure who's up for re-election when (we have 3 'Pub congresspeople). I believe the governorship is up for re-election in '06, but with Lt Gov Jodi Rell taking over she may not even make it till then.

But, if Lieberman retires, I see Bloomy running for Senate.

That leaves, possibly, John Larson (first district U.S. Congressman) or Sec. of State Bysiewicz as potential candidates. I'm sure there may be others (Rosa DeLauro?)

The national Republicans - Shays & Simmons - were very critical of Rowland early on, so I don't think it will negatively effect them. Nancy Johnson, who is pretty well entrenched, was the slowest of the 3 (by far) to criticize Johnny Boy Rowland.
