"THEY" Said we didn't stand a chance!!
"THEY" were wrong! For the first time in 20 yrs. the Town of Thomaston has elected the entire Democratic Slate ! We have a new First Select-woman, and Selectman!! Our Democratic Town committee worked "our butts" off, and got it done for Thomaston !!! :toast: :bounce: We beat an incumbant State Rep. with 17 yrs. in the Ct. Statehouse ! We had an honest campaign and put in a lot of hard work;...and it paid off! Let's keep the ball rolling in Ct. and show folks that it all begins with the "grassroots", then we can tale back the Nation. Inch by inch, step by step. State by State!!:woohoo: :applause:

3. Thanks to our great Town committee!
I only had a small part in the whole of it. I knew things were going well when I had about 150 people that I called on our Independent Voters lists. I got to speak to about 60% of them, and left reminders to vote on many answering machines. Those that I spoke to, all......said they were voting for our slate. Thomastons elections have been known to be won by as little as 15 votes in the past. There are more Repubs than Dems registered, so it was the excellent turnout, and the Ind. vote (and a few repubs fed up with the "status quo") that took us over the top! I am so proud of our group, and it's LOVELY to be on the winning side of things for a change!:hi: :grouphug: Love , DC

4. Congrats
Good for Thomaston.

Unfortunately, we lost in Middletown, New Britain & my old town of Newington (with an independent winning there) My current town of Ellington also kicked out there Democratic 1st Selectman, who got swamped by the town Republican.

We're so glad here in Thomaston, that our neighbor in Waterbury retained his Mayoral Seat!! Congrats! I guess we voters aren't as dumb as some would like to believe. Great write in vote option. Smart!!:toast:

7. Jarjura was all over the TV

I wonder how much he spent on TV ads. And on the news last night he said he ordered 20,000 pencils with his name on it to hand out. Unless he knows someone, that can't be cheap!

9. Cool, I grew up in Northfield, just up High Street a ways.
East Lyme also ousted the Repug First Selectman in favor of a Dem.

10. Hey there!
Sorry I'm just getting to your post in reply to mine. There has been so much going on in the world of politics right now, and I'm being pulled between the great TV coverage (C SPAN) and all the good stuff here on DU! Our world just keeps getting smaller and smaller doesn't it? My youngest daughter just moved in with her fiance and his Dad who live in Northfield !! So you're a widower? I'm a widow, and my husband passed 3 yrs. ago. DU and the Dem Town Comm. have been my lifelines!! I've met a lot of great people, and made many new friends.I live alone with my faithful companions. A dog and my daughters' two cats. They had to come and live with grandma 'cause her guy is allergic to cats!!! It sometimes gets very lonely, do you find this too? How long has it been for you? I hope you don't find this too personal, just wondering how others learn to cope with loss like ours. Maybe we should start a forum in regards to this subject?? :toast: DC
