Check Out This Ras Poll On LIEberman
Only has him at 54% without a Republican even in the race? Wow, sucks for LIEberman... good for Connecticut. Hey, and think about w/o Repub support he would be hovering 40%? Read the poll, and hope that CT voters can send this douchebag to wipe W's ass like he *wants* to.

1. If I read this correctly,
Weicker would take Democratic votes from Lieberman, and a Republican would win.

I don't think that's what we want.

I can't stand Lieberman, and never could, but I'd like to see a Liberal Dem in the Senate, not a Repub.

2. I agree
As much as I can't stand Lieberman, I don't want a Repuke up there.

3. No, not if Weicker ran as a Dem in a Primary
Then, it would be Weicker vs Repub.

4. But .....
Has Weicker ever said he would run as a Dem?

Or as an Independent?

6. I'd be shocked if he ran as a Democrat
I don't think he's a big fan of either party, though he hates what his old party has become since Reagan.

5. That's his own fault
LIEberman should have never put himself in a position for a right-leaning Independent to take Democratic votes away from him. To think that 37% of CT Democrats would vote against LIEberman is a good sign.

Anyone who makes statements like he did with his "undermining the President's credibility" deserves to go down, especially in a state as blue as Connecticut. It looks bad for our party to have such ass clowns as LIEberman in it. He should have never opened his mouth. Now, he will have to face a tough reelection campaign in a Democratic, anti-war, anti-Bush state. He made his bed, now let him sleep in it. My heart is going to hurt when I see him struggling to be sent back to D.C.

With that said, I do need to post that I would take a moderate Dem over a Sam Brownback or Jeff Sessions type of insane Republican. I dislike 'ol LIE in many areas, not just his pandering to President Bush and Republicans.

Let him win, but let it be by 567 votes. That vote total familiar? Thanks to him, that was Bush's margin of victory (yeah right!) in Florida in 2000. So, every time you see ol Joseph you remember how he was the one who but this bunch of crooks in the White House. Why a man like Gore put him on the ticket I'll never know. He didn't make that same mistake twice though (not supporting Joe during the 2004 Dem Pres primaries).

Oh well... Go Blue.

7. Okay, I see what you're saying
Make his feel the heat so to speak. He has to know that us nutmeggers won't tolerate his constant support for the "war". Winning with a close margin would do just that.

8. Winning is winning
regardless of the vote count.

Bush thinks he has a "mandate."

And Lieberman would be in for another six years.

9. The Republican Party in CT is very weak. Rell is their best candidate
and she won't be running for senator. If the Repukes field a candidate, most likely he/she won't have much name recognition or experience in government. The only ones who have name recognition are the 3 Repuke Reps, and none have made a move to challenge Lieberman and would not even if Weicker makes a run as Independent. My bet is that most Repukes would back Lieberman over a no-name Repuke candidate and a Repuke candidate would hurt Lieberman more than Weicker.

10. Am article on a potential race
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 03:05 PM by Nutmegger
Read an article that was pertinent to this topic.

<snip>
In a one-on-one rematch, Lieberman leads Weicker 54 percent to 32 percent, according to the poll. But within that seemingly healthy lead are some ominous numbers for Lieberman, who is in his third term.

Lieberman's lead among liberal voters is just four points. Also, he is currently favored by 62 percent of Connecticut residents who call themselves conservatives, a number that would likely be diminished if a credible Republican candidate is in the race.

<snip>
"Even if Republicans have a credible candidate with low name recognition, he will take about 75 percent of the party's vote," Rasmussen said. "If you look at Lieberman's (poll) totals, and take out Republican support, Lieberman has under 40 percent. A Republican, Lieberman and Weicker could all be in the 30s."

<snip>
"Weicker has been in political obscurity for almost 20 years and polls at 32 percent," Dautrich said, exaggerating Weicker's time out of the limelight. "That's impressive. He could wage a competitive campaign. Lieberman won (with 70 percent of the vote) in 2000. Now he's down to 54 percent."
