She's a champion of the status quo and the state of Connecticut can not afford status quo. What Rell has going for her is aides who know how to play the PR game and she willingly follows their advice.
The race is quiet right now due to the Holiday season. I expect around February the spotlight will focus more on the Gov's race. I'm supporting DeStefano
http://www.destefanoforct.com/ and feel that he has the best game plan to attack Rell. He needs to attack her as the heir of an Admin who has led CT to poor job creation and retention and sell himself as one who helped rebuild New Haven and what he did for New Haven he plans on doing for CT.
While Rell personally is not corrupt, a la Rowland, she was part of that Admin and I find it difficult to believe that she didn't know about the corruption. She chose to turn a blind eye and ear to Rowland's corruption and right now, many people, tired of Rowland's corruption and not enthralled with Dem legislative leaders, are turning a blind eye to her indirect support of Rowland's corruption, but if they are forced to face the bitter facts that the Rowland-Rell Admin has made CT economically weaker, her poll numbers should drop.
The problem DeStefano has is if he gets into a bruising fight with Malloy, the Stamford mayor, that could drain his war chest. DeStefano currently leads in money and endorsements. DeStefano is semi-quietly building a good state-wide campaign network. Whether that is good enough to beat Rell, only time will tell.
