WINDSOR - Cable television executive Edward "Ned" Lamont and U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, D-Conn., are coming to town this week in the hopes of winning Democrats - and their 17 delegates to the party's nominating convention - to support their candidacies.
Upset over Lieberman's unwavering support for President George W. Bush and his policy on Iraq, the Democratic Town Committee formally expressed its discontent in February, voting 34-1 for a resolution reprimanding Lieberman for his stance on the war.
Lamont, a Greenwich businessman who is seek to wrest the Democratic nomination for Senate away from Lieberman, will speak tonight at the Democratic Town Committee meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Windsor Town Hall.
Lieberman, meanwhile, is coming to Town Hall on Sunday, April 9, between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to meet in private with committee members, delegates, and elected officials from Windsor and surrounding towns.
