While authority in Iraq was officially handed over to the Iraqis on June 28, nearly 140,000 U.S. troops remain in that nation. As you may know, I have proposed that we adopt a time certain to end the U.S. occupation of Iraq as international forces move in to take our place. I would like to share my position with residents of the First Congressional District, and more importantly, I would like to hear from you about the current situation in Iraq and what you believe should happen next. I will be holding a public town hall forum on these issues and hope that you will be able to attend:
