Human Rights Campaign Endorses Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman

WASHINGTON - The Human Rights Campaign Political Action Committee today announced its endorsement of Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., for his leadership on behalf of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans.

"Senator Lieberman's strong support of fairness for all Americans - gay or straight - dates back three decades to a time when few of his peers were standing by his side," said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. "From his sponsorship and votes on workplace fairness and hate crimes legislation, to his support of comprehensive HIV/AIDS treatment, to his consistent opposition to efforts to put discrimination in the U.S. Constitution, Senator Lieberman is a trusted ally in Congress. From his service in the Connecticut Legislature to his three terms in the Senate, the Senator has proven to be a reliable ally and supporter of equality."

In the Human Rights Campaign's most recent scorecard ranking members of Congress on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues, Sen. Lieberman scored an 88 percent and in the 107th, he scored a 100 percent. Additional scores follow: 100 percent (106th), 83 percent (105th), 89 percent (104th), 78 percent (103rd), 75 percent (102nd) and 90 percent (101st).

Lieberman opposes gay marriage and only votes for gay rights issues when Bush/Repukes don't need his vote.

the vast majority of the time.

How many gay rights issues were decided in the Senate by just one vote? Did Lieberman vote with the Republicans on any of those votes? :shrug:

The votes that matter right now, the filibuster votes, are not counted by the issue groups "score cards", so Lieberman nows how to play the game.

And even with his empty progressive votes, Lieberman is still the 8th most conservative Dem in the senate.

Sam Alito's nomination. He will vote against any filibuster that will hurt the Repukes.

The only way he will support it is if his internal polls show that Lamont is closing in him.

11. He must really be feeling the pressure from Lamont

Still doesn't pardon him for his cloture votes on the bankruptcy bill and Alito nomination.

Lieberman has also not shown up on Hannity's show since Lamont's formal announcement in March and since Ned has been hammering Lieberman by calling the senator "Fox's favorite Democrat".

2. This happened almost a month ago and

has resulted in HRC being uniformly castigated and losing more than a million dollars in donations. At the same time, HRC endorsed republican Mary Bono who is opposed by a Democrat who actually supports gay rights. So your reason for posting this now is?
