Schlesinger Is Asked To Reconsider Run For Senate
Schlesinger Is Asked To Reconsider Run For Senate

July 13, 2006 1:58 p.m. EST

Richard Rittierodt - All Headline News Staff Writer
Hartford, CT (AHN) - A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Connecticut is being asked to reconsider his campaign because he used a fake name to gamble at a casino in the 1990's.

The Hartford Courant reported that Alan Schlesinger acknowledged that he had used a bogus name to obtain a card at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Patrons use the cards to win rewards from the casino.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell and Republican State Chairman George Gallo asked him to reconsider running.

Schlesinger said, "I am not going to let this bother me. I am going to continue in the race."

1. Schlesinger was just on Colin McEnroe's
show on WTIC saying that Rell had approached him before the convention asking him to stand aside for a better-known candidate. All this has opened Jodi up to questions about why she continues to stand by her beleaguered chief of staff who is alleged to have perjured herself in legislative testimony on an ethics matter. In another fun matter, the legislature is persisting in its efforts to get the former chief justice to testify about his shenanigans.

Some fun here in the constitution state!

4. I don't think we'll have a dull moment
here in CT until after the November elections.

2. Not to defend this slimball (because he is a slimball)
but he is of legal age to gamble.
You have to spend money in order to win rewards with those cards. He probably had a card already in his real name and wanted to get another win. Cheap, yes. But illegal. I don't really think so. Well maybe. You could probably only get one card per person but I don't see much harm in this.

5. Hard to see how he could get a card without a fake ID
