Why does it seem that most don't have an interest in the Governor's race?
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 05:16 PM by Nutmegger
After speaking with a few people, and just my observations, I can't say folks are hyped up.

I would have thought that there would be a slight interest in the race given the history we have had with Rowland.

You hyped?

1. Most people I know are voting for Rell.
They seem to be content with her.

Not I, I hate her and want her out of office. She's just as bad as Rowland and Co.

I can't stand how fake she acts. And now they have this commerical airing and it shows parts of her speech was she was sworn into office.

Blah, blah, blah, fake tears, blah, blah, more tears....

2. The people I know
are voting for DeStefano, but they're much more excited about Lamont.

Also, they're resigned to having Jodi Rell win.

3. Not at all
I think DeStefano is a good candidate, and I am going to vote for him. However, he is far from the best person that we could have nominated: Dodd, Lieberman, Blumenthal, Bysiewicz, Larson and DeLauro come to mind. Heck, why not Barbara Kennelly, Jim Maloney or Sam Gejdensen?

5. Lieberman????
BTW, why did Blumenthal choose not to run? I remember him as having a lot of support in CT.

6. I think the same reason many of the above didn't challenge Rell
They thought it would be a tough race... Blumenthal can probably be re-elected another 10 times as attorney general and get 2/3 to 3/4 of the vote each time with no campaigning. Why give that up for the fight of your life? Same with Larson & DeLauro. They've not had the tough races, so might not be ready for the grind of a tough campaign.

My thought on Lieberman would be that he had the stature to challenge Rell and his neocon views on foreign policy wouldn't have come into play.

7. Neocon views?
I wasn't aware of any.

Could you please elaborate?

8. man I'm getting old
I had meant Lieberman's neocon foreign policy views would not have come into play as governor

4. Rell has a staggering lead in the polls
And DeStefano hasn't seemed to punch a hole in those numbers. Whereas, Lamont, who started 55 pts down, kept leapfrogging in the polls until he won the primary by 4pts. And the GE race is a dead heat right now.
