Is anybody else unhappy with Ned's newest TV ads?
I'm finding them a bit forced. One is the Red Sox and Yankee fans who disagree about baseball but agree on Lieberman, that he turned on the Dem Party. The other is the "turncoat" ad which pushes that theme a bit too much. I am guessing that the turncoat issue has tested well with polls or focus groups. If so, then fine, I'm for whatever works cuz I want Ned to win.

But still the ads just don't seem to "be" Ned!

1. All I know is that both Lamont and Coutrney better start......

talking about what they intend to do when elected during the commercials instead of only banging on them because of the association with bush.
For Gods sake, there is plenty of policy to talk about.
I did see the new Murphy commercial and he was talking policy and what he would do different from johnson.

2. Lamont has really good people around him
so I think he's probably getting the best advice possible. My little world view sitting here in New Haven cannot know what they are finding out with their sophisticated poll techniques. I am betting, tho, that he is doing this in measures, establishing his talking points little by little. He has done substantive commercials, remember the one about "signs"? That was great in that it took the Katrina disaster with stranded people holding signs asking for help, to others who need health care and pensions, etc. He should rerun those as well.

3. I can only hope that they are holding the big guns until October.
You are right. Lamonts campaign so far has been first class, so much so that his form of commercial is showing up in the other campaigns.
I think now is the time they need to get specific. Then again, what do I know? LOL

4. OK, it's a deal. I won't worry if
you don't worry.

I think NEd will do some great things in October as well. Joe seems to be just palling around being all smiley.

I'm going to phone bank for Ned tomorrow afternoon. I'll see folks are thinking then!

6. I've seen all of them and actually liked them.
I think the turncoat ad is his best though. We need to hammer that home to every voter. LIEberman does not respect the democratic process. If he did, he wouldn't be running.

I've seen quite a few Repuke ads. The stations here seem to loop Simmons' ad. WTF?! I seen one Courtney ad!

I would like to see a little variety though. LIEberman is going to self-destruct soon; a few ads about the issues wouldn't hurt. :)

7. According to the latest ARG survey...
That seems consistent with others, Lieberman is ahead by 2 points overall. However, the interesting thing was that Lamont was up by 2 points among independents - and that's without even trying.

The bigger concern is that it was 62% Lamont & 36% Lieberman among Democrats.

If Lamont can get that up to 75-80% for Lamont among Dems, he can win fairly easily if he stays even among Indys. I think that is what the Turncoat ad is aiming for...

(BTW, I think Lamont was ahead of Schlesinger among Republicans, but Joe had like 80% there)

8. That makes sense, Jeff
He's got to drive up his base, the way the pubs always drives up theirs. I am part of that base, tho, and it made me a little uncomfortable because I thought of the independent voters out there and what their reaction would be. How do you think they react to the ad?

9. Yeah! And what about the Mets fans? Left out again
in CT, as usual, lol!

It's not bad, but you're right, the acting is a bit forced.

Haven't seen the "turncoat" one yet.

10. My son, who lives in Brooklyn, is a huge Mets fan
but he likes Lamont (cuz I say so!).

I wonder, tho, about why there don't seem to be Mets fans in CT! Hmm...

11. We're here, but you'd never know it from the coverage
The Courant in particular, seems to think the team doesn't exist.

You can feel like Switzerland, though, with all the Sox/Yankees divide...
