-HARTFORD — The secretary of the state’s office said Wednesday it won’t challenge a critic who seized control of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party, which was created by Sen. Joe Lieberman in August on his way to a fourth term.
John Orman, a political science professor who ran briefly against Lieberman, I-Conn., last year, switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Connecticut for Lieberman after the senator’s victory.
Orman voted himself chairman and created rules that limit membership to critics, bloggers — and anyone named Lieberman. He said the party will be a "watchdog party" of Lieberman’s actions. <snip>

Orman, of Trumbull, had bitterly protested Lieberman’s creation of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party last year, saying it was only a ploy to secure a better position on the ballot. In Connecticut, minor party candidates are listed on the ballot before unaffiliated party candidates.
