What is required to start a recall campaign in Connecticut? What grounds? How many signatures?

Wonder if anybody's talking about it?

2. CT does not have the power to recall federal officials
What we can do is work to elect more populist and progressive Democrats in other states to the Senate in 2008. By increasing Democratic hold on the Senate, Harry Reid will have the freedom to remove Lieberman from his chairmanships. Harry probably won't want to do that, but there will be enormous national pressure to do so, especially if Lieberman keeps sucking up to Bush and McCain.

In 2008, Republicans will have about 12 vunerable seats to 3 for Democrats to defend. If we can sweep or even just add one more to our numbers in the senate, Lieberman will be relegated to the dustbin of history.

I suggest that we start looking to "adopt a Democratic senate candidate" as they make themselves known. One vunerable Republican senator, John Sunnunu, lives in New Hampshire, so you could look to that race if you want to actually drive up and canvass.

3. By 2008
Lieberman may be running for VP with McCain.

Would he have to "officially" switch parties to do so?

4. I don't think so
but, would Lieberman be acceptable to the Religious Reich? They don't like Romney because he's a Mormon... could they support a Jew? The neocon wing would love Lieberman - but, what about the hard-core Pat Buchanan conservatives?

5. I was just thinking the same thing about recall...
but I love your idea about "adopting" a candidate. I don't know what to do about Joe now that he's ridden his one-trick pony back down to Washington, embarrasing the citizens of Connecticut (as he's doing right now on Meet The Press). In the near future I'll be writing my local newspaper reminding those who voted for Joe how they've been tricked and abandoned. Aside from keeping him accountable, we have to look ahead to stretching that margin in the Senate, taking the magic wand away from LieberBush and knocking him off his perch and out of his committee seats.

I'd almost rather have the Dem's eject him now because I think we can get the important legislation passed without him, and the rest won't override Bush's veto anyway. Some investigations can take place in The House, where Joe can't undermine them as he already has in the case of Katrina. Down the road we can marginalize, then eject the man who mis-represents us in the Senate.

7. What paper will you send your letter to? I've been thinking of submitting
something to the New Haven Register.

However, do you think this is something of a wasted effort? I don't want US to look like "sore losers" as much as I'd like to rub it into the Dems who shamefully displayed their "I'm stickin' with Joe" signs and voted for this vile man. PLus the fact that Joe hasn't been seen, that I know, anywhere near his new "home" (empty rented condo)here in New Haven.

6. Great idea, Larkspur!
While not as sexy as a recall, it makes so much sense. If for no other reason let's "do it for Ned!"

9. Lieberman the Repuke
Im sorry but any Democrat who voted for this jerk deserves what they are getting. Why can’t our leadership come out publicly and disown the fool? I mean, who is he kidding claiming to be a Democrat?

10. Wouldnt that be a US law as opposed to a state law ?
since the house and senate are federal branches of government.
