Have we lost our Air America and Sirius station? |

I tried tuning into Stephanie Miller this morning and found nothing but sports talk. 1300 AM is apparently now the ESPN Radio Network.
Has another station in the are picked up our liberal talk shows?
I am bereft without my Stephanie Miller!

3. I was going to post the same question! |
|
Yesterday morning I thought it was the Young Jerks talking about the Super Bowl so I kept switching back to NPR and WPKN. This AM i herd the yakkers say Mike & Mike Show. Back to PKN for the Bob Marley marathon.
DId we lose the evening shows too ? I work in Wallingford so I'm just out of WAVZ range and put PKN on last night when I left work.
WAAAAAA! I guess I have to get satellite radio now. Anyone know anything about that ? I want CSPAN Radio and of course the liberal talk shows. I want to listen in the car during 40 min, commute and it would be nice to listen at office too. But I don't want to spend a ton of money. Any suggestions ?

5. Good news! I found Stephanie M. this am on 1150 AM |
|
but it was a little static depending on which direction my car was going! This evening at 7 pm there was LOTS of static so I heard nothing.
I had to just go up and down the dial to find Stephanie by accident. I have no idea which station I found because I was on my way to work and didn't have time to catch the call letters.
But 1300 am, WAVZ, I guess is dead to us.

6. See my answer above in this thread re Stephanie Miller at least. |
|
What IS the deal here? Are liberal stations being switched because they can't make money or are they being "bought" by wealthy conservatives who just don't want liberal ideas spread on American radio stations?

Then again, WAVZ has a terrible signal to begin with, never got any adequate promotion and virtually no local presence. Clear Channel still owns it.
Sports talk seems to be the format du jour. Owners have finally figured out how to make money with it.
Stephanie Miller is actually on two stations just outside the New Haven area. See my blog post above.

It was on 1300 a.m. that station was taken over by ESPN radio...which isn't a total loss but I miss AA

10. I've been trying Imus in the morning and finding that |
|
tolerable. I switch between him and WPKN (89.5)
With the XM/Sirius merger, I'm going to wait a bit before I invest in satellite radio
