My LTTE of New Haven Register (with thanks to some DU posters) :
Who writes your headlines ? On 2/14 you ran an AP article with a headline “Dems Rant and Rave as House Debates War”. Nowhere in the article is any ranting and raving reported. Did your editor even watch or listen to the debates? I did for several hours each day. The only ranting I saw/heard was from the Republicans who were told by their leadership, Shadegg (R-AZ) and Hoekstra (R-MI), to avoid actually debating the resolution :
“We urge you to instead broaden the debate to the threat posed to Americans, the world, and all "unbelievers" by radical Islamists. We would further urge you to join us in educating the American people about the views of radical Islamists and the consequences of not defeating radical Islam in Iraq.
The debate should not be about the surge or its details. This debate should not even be about the Iraq war to date, mistakes that have been made, or whether we can, or cannot, win militarily. If we let Democrats force us into a debate on the surge or the current situation in Iraq, we lose.“
So, we heard Virgil Goode (R-VA) saying “they want to take "In God We Trust" off our money and replace it with "In Allah We Trust" “. Our money says "In God we trust." He should know Muhammad is the Muslim's prophet, not their god, who is known as Allah.
We also heard Todd Akin’s (R-MO) statement about Davy Crockett at the Alamo getting a message from Congress on his Blackberry. No debunking is needed on that one, I think.
Please keep your opinions on the editorial page and put a little less slant in your headlines in the future.
