Arrested for attempted 1st degree assault, plus a DUI arrest as well. Does this put him in line to be a VP nominee in 2012 or 2016?
Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley's two past arrests, which he acknowledged in a Courant story Friday morning, drew an immediate call from his two intraparty opponents, one saying "come clean" and the other pressing him to "approve the release of sealed court records detailing his arrests."
But Foley responded that he had no plans to seek the release of any records. "These were minor incidents," long ago, he said.
Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele, one of Foley's two opponents in the Aug. 10 Republican primary, issued a statement saying: "The charges against Mr. Foley are very serious and there remain many unanswered questions. … Mr. Foley needs come clean and authorize the release of court records relating to his arrest and imprisonment and explain the discrepancies in the various accounts of his second arrest so voters can know the full truth about these troubling incidents."

In the first incident, Foley was arrested in June 1981 in Southampton, N.Y., on Long Island, when he was 29, on a criminal charge of first-degree attempted assault. According to a July 2, 1981, article in the Southampton Press newspaper, "he allegedly rammed a vehicle, placing the occupants in fear of serious physical injury, police said."

If I'm not mistaken, Foley was WAY out in front in the GOP race against two candidates that were virtually unknown - Mike Fedele and Oz Griebel.
