I am new to Connecticut and turned on the AM radio yesterday... and it was horrible. Now I looking for help to put pressure on the Steve Malzberg show, to contact his advertisers and ask him why they are sponsoring hate speech. More details in the letter I sent to the general manager. Who wants to help???
Dear Staff of "The Talk of Connecticut",
In a couple hours of my first-ever listen to the Steve Malzberg show yesterday, I heard a stream of idiotic conspiracy theory, vile smears and hateful divisiveness, including doubts about Obama's birth certificate, charges that Obama let the BP oil spill happen because he doesn't care about the Republican states that were affected, labeling of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan is a "radical leftist", air time for the "Burn a Koran Day" instigator and the cheering of one guest who called the president a "radical socialist" and another who said Democrats are anti-Christian.
These statements are far over the line of legitimate debate; they are not conservative point of views, but promotion of reckless, extremist smears and total falsehoods aimed to provoke hatred toward people due to their religion and party affiliation and to generally keep people misinformed.
As the management of The Talk of Connecticut, could you please tell me how this program conforms to your responsibility to the public as broadcaster on the public airwaves? Also, are your advertisers below aware of this hate and divisiveness apparently being broadcast every day around their commercials?
best regards,
