Martha Dean Embroiled In Custody Battle

In the fall of 2001, a meticulous and opinionated lawyer named Martha Dean penned a series of columns for the Connecticut Law Tribune, lamenting the diminishing status of traditional family values.

"Rather than focusing blame on schools or popular culture for the deficits widely recognized in this area," she wrote, "it is time to consider what parents are teaching children — directly and indirectly — at home."

Nearly a decade later, those words are resonating in Dean's own home, where the accomplished lawyer – now the Republican nominee for attorney general — remains embroiled in a bitter, years-long custody fight that experts in the case say has taken a toll on her son and led to investigations by the Department of Children and Families
