New Haven to NY border traffic
What can be done about it to fix it for the long term?

Any ideas or suggestions?

2. More people should take the train, perhaps?
That's what I did when I lived in New Haven for nine years.

I never understood why people drove into New York City. The few times I tried it, it was a nerve-wracking experience.

3. Metro North
Metro North is pretty busy, if I'm not mistaken.

4. Massive upgrades to the public transportation system.
This includes the local bus systems. Anything to get folks out of their cars. There is virtually no way to upgrade either i-95 or the merritt. What about light rail systems in the larger towns (stamford, bridgeport, norwalk, new haven) and better connecting service from the local train stops. Norwalk had a nice connecting service from the south norwalk station to the hospital.

Maybe if gas prices go to $4-5 a gallon, people will change their minds about driving. OBL wants oil to be at least $100/barrel.
