HARTFORD, Conn. -- More than 500 Connecticut convicts are facing re-arrest for not updating their addresses on the state's sex offender registry, prompting a top state legislator to question whether the registry law needs to be improved.
"If they want to play this game, then we'll have the state and local police hunt them down and put them in jail," said state House Speaker James Amann, D-Milford. "They're playing real stupid. It's going to cost them. In the long run, they'll be back in jail. The law will catch up to them." <snip>
State Rep. Michael P. Lawlor, D-East Haven, said the law isn't perfect. It doesn't differentiate between serial sexual predators and people who committed crimes such as public urination. <snip>
