My wife,Lois, and I are planning to drive to Wilmington late
Fri./early Sat., 01/17, from upstate NY(about a 4 hour trip)in
an attempt to at least get a glimpse of President-elect Obama
and his team. We are in our early 70's and have worked as
volunteers for the Obama campaign for the past year, since the
NH primary, registering and canvassing voters in NY as well as
RI, PA, and NC. We did some training with the NY Democratic
Lawyers Council and worked as poll-watchers on election day.
We were never able, however, to be present at a live Obama
event to see him in person despite being in the same city
where he was appearing while were working for him.
We would love to connect with any of the Obama faithful in or
around Wilmington with whom we could pay our respects and show
our support for him. It would also be a help to us because we
have never been to Wilmington and do not know the area.
I have just learned that the Amtrak station is closing on the
17th during Obama's stop in Wilmington. I don't understand
what this means in terms of him making an appearance. We will
be grateful to anyone who can help us with information to
accomplish our goal.
We are at 10 West Prospect Ave in Middletown, NY, and can be
reached at joedw@citlink.net and 845-343-1155.
