They are campaigning for all the Dems. I just like that it's close to my house. I even brought pastries for Papa's on Saturday!

Hope to see other DE DUers there! Let's get Coons and Carney elected!

1. Is there a place I can pick up some Dem lawn signs in Newark?
I sing with a relative of Carney so I was able to snag some of his signs and stickers from her, but wanted to pick up Coons signs too.

3. Could be interesting...
Next six weeks in Delaware could be really interesting. A Castle write-in campaign would put the senate seat right back up in the air again - although, luckily, Christine O'Donnell probably still wouldn't win. If his polling shows what Nate Silver thinks it will show, he'll probably do it.

4. Conservative Delaware Republican.. for Coons
I am a Conservative Republican who is supporting Coons, and a totally disabled veteran.

Chris Coons is a good person and it will be my honor to have him represent me and the state of Delaware in the Senate.

One of these days I am going to get to meet Chris. I only get up that way when I have to go to the VA Hospital.

I wish all of you out there the best. And keep in mind that there are Republicans who are not part of the crazy crowd.

BTW, the Tea Party is not behind the madness, and actually they don't exist in Delaware. It is the 9/12 Patriots, the anti-abortion crowd and that is their problem with the GOP. Nothing else. But they are the kooks who yell down Castle over the Birther issues. That is the core, and most people do not realize it is the anti-abortion crowd behind it.

Anyway I am glad Coons is going to win.

5. What part of Delaware are you located - Coons has some events down south too
I know he's doing something in Lewes this week.

My family was conservative republicans but they were the old school style that seriously did worry about the budget and never meddled in things like choice or religions. Mike Castle is conservative, ARlen Specter was conservative. It really was about the BUDGET and not values.

I never voted for Mike Castle but you'd find it difficult for me to ever say anything negative about him especially in a personal level. Mike Castle is Delaware unlike O'Donnell who is an interloper supported by interlopers who see Delaware as a small state that is easier to manipulate the votes.

BTW welcome to DU :hi:

6. When and Where?
I am in long neck and would love to go to an event.

I am from PA originally and really found Delaware politics refreshing, well until now. The fact that people pay attention to state issues and really do not have the nasty campaigns. And in the end everyone moves past the election no matter who wins. But that has changed.

Yeah that is the thing, what bad can you really say about Castle. Really the only issue they had on him was pro-life and Cap and Trade. Really Cap and Trade? Most people don't even know what it is, or how much it will cost or save. I have to think that Delaware would benefit from it, or Castle would not have voted for it.. But it is just silly.

I actually don't believe O'Donnell actually wants to win. She is not campaigning, not like she wants to win. Though she is raising money. I bet she never spends most of it. The Ads being run right now for O'Donnell are not being paid by her.

Yeah I am not big on the social issues. I served my country for my entire life, and most of it as a disabled vet. I believe in the Constitution and I don't understand where it says it is okay to poke around in things like someone's sexual preference. I could care less what people do, as long as they are not hurting anyone else. I find it insulting that people are actually spending money to deny someone their right to be happy.

I like that Coon's calls himself a Truman Democrat. Most people don't realize that with Kennedy and before, those Democrats would actually be considered conservatives by today's standard. Things like National Defense were not issues. Obviously anyone elected is not going to be against defending our country. It was like that for alot of the issues. The issues that today are just deflections from real issues.

8. Thanks.. too bad I will be up your way
It figures it is the one day I will be up North. My wife is taking off work and we are going to UofD to pick up the kid for the weekend.

It explains why I got called to see if I wanted to volunteer on the phones. Once the person realized I can't finish complete sentences due to my nerve damage she blew me off. ( I wouldn't want me answering phones either, so it is amusing and she handled it well ).

I actually deal with someone at the campaign. And I am hoping to eventually get a photo opp with Chris.

9. If I see more stuff down at your part of the woods I'll let you know
Chris is doing a Happy Hour at Timothy's this Friday. But that's at the Wilmington Riverfront.
