Eager to ride the momentum of their first mass demonstration in Rodney Square on Saturday, Delaware supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement are working to pin down the first locale where they'll camp in a similar fashion as the Wall Street protesters in Manhattan.
About 100-150 attended Saturday's Occupy Delaware event in Rodney Square in Wilmington, surrounded by the DuPont Building – world headquarters of the DuPont Co. – and the local headquarters of Bank of America and M&T Bank. Attendees trickled in and out of the event.
Without permits or securing necessary facilities such as portable toilets, occupying any space for more than a day with a large number of people has proved to be a challenge holding back occupation of any space in Delaware.
But now organizers of the movement in the First State are on the hunt for temporary real estate where their supporters will be seen, but also where they'll have amenities to sustain long-term occupation.
