N.J. review: BP's LNG Gas project restricts river
Just in time for presentation during the congressional energy bill debates -- this is good for Castle's request to remove the amendment giving Federal power over State's decisions.......

Officials say pier to cause traffic jams, site also vulnerable to terror attacks

By JEFF MONTGOMERY / The News Journal
04/21/2005
Energy giant BP's plan for a liquefied natural gas terminal opposite Claymont could snarl or restrict Delaware River traffic while still leaving the site vulnerable to terrorist attack, according to a New Jersey review of the project.

State Department of Environmental Protection officials recently filed their comments with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on the proposed $500 million BP Crown Landing terminal in Logan Township.

BP wants to build a storage and distribution terminal capable of receiving two to three tankers, or about 100 million gallons of superchilled fuel, each week. Although the tanks and LNG vaporizing operations would be in New Jersey, most of the 2,000-foot pier would stand in the river inside Delaware.
