I have known Mike Ramone since I was seven years old and he was one of the guys I looked up to on the Oakwood Valley swim team.
I met Mike on primary day outside of Linden Hill Elementary School where he was campaigning, and explaining that he was "not like other Republicans".
I'm sad to report that the man is apparently a scumbag.
------------- I am writing to follow up on our discussion outside of Linden Hill Elementary School the other day, and so that you will understand in a very direct personal way why I will not be voting for you, and why you have personally motivated me to do whatever I can to encourage your defeat.
I received your recorded telephone call this evening stating that your campaign signs have been stolen or vandalized, asking your supporters “not to retaliate against my opponent”, and providing instructions for obtaining replacement signs.
I want you to understand that this sort of tactic is transparent, and an insult to the intelligence of everyone who received it.
First of all, the request “not to retaliate against my opponent” is an accusation that your opponent is responsible for the alleged theft and vandalism. There is no shortage of folks who out of boredom or distaste for election-year roadside lawn litter, indiscrimately vandalize campaign signs. Your request not to “retaliate”, however, makes it clear that the recipient of the call is to understand that your opponent is somehow encouraging or responsible for such activity. Without any evidence or proof of this allegation, your accusation is a lie, and you are a liar.
Second, your supporters who have your signs in their yard know perfectly well where they got your signs, and they know perfectly well how to replace them. Furthermore, you know who your supporters are and how to contact them. The only conceivable use of telephone spam to communicate your message at random, including to persons registered to vote in the opposing party, is to make your dishonest accusation that your opponent is behind the alleged theft or vandalism of your signs.
It is hardly necessary to point these facts out to you, since you know full well that your telephone message was a deliberate tactic to smear your opponent. Your signs plaster this district from end to end, and it is clear that your supply of signs is only exceeded by your budget for telephone spam.
The next time we should happen to cross paths, please keep your bullshit to yourself. You are a scumball telephone spammer and negative campaigner, and it is a shame that you became one after such a promising youth.
John Berryhill, Ph.d., Esq. -------------------------
Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that I've seen a reference to the same phone script elsewhere. If anyone has a specific pointer, it would be appreciated.
