TRAVEL BAN UPDATE
The machinery of the law turns slowly, as we were reminded last week when U.S. District Court Judge Patricia Seitz struck down part of a Florida state law restricting travel to designated "terrorist" nations. For more, see below or at http://uff.ourusf.org/biweekly/Fall08.html#090408travel.

Some of us have thought for quite some time that the "Bush-Cheney" attempt to control the courts would have a rebound. We're beginning to see it. In this case, academic value was more important than arbitrary political mandates. Good job to the lawyers who argued the case! There is HUGE precedent in this case.
