A new ad from Florida Democrats aims to use Gov. Charlie Crist's words against him.
The ad, which features Crist touting his conservative credentials, seeks to undercut his independent bid for the U.S. Senate and to paint him as a traditional Republican. It features snippets of Crist praising 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and hailing former president George W. Bush as a "leader of courage and conviction."
The ad also reminds voters that Crist had voiced support for oil drilling off Florida's Panhandle. He reversed course after the massive oil spill in the Gulf.
The 30-second ad is the work of the Florida Democratic Party and Rep. Kendrick Meek, the Democrat in the three-way race for Florida's open Senate seat. Crist left the Republican Party earlier this year rather than face a primary against Republican Marco Rubio.
