Conservative activists target 2 Fla. justices

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Some tea party activists are hoping to do something that's never happened in Florida: kick a Supreme Court justice off the court in a retention vote.
Justices James Perry and Jorge Labarga are on Tuesday's ballot along with two other justices and 27 appeals court judges. Voters are being asked "yes" or "no" whether they should be retained.
Some conservatives and tea party activists have waged a low-key campaign against Perry and Labarga using news releases, word-of-mouth and websites. They are angry at the pair because they voted with the Supreme Court majority in rejecting for the ballot a state constitutional amendment that would have allowed voters to voice their opposition against President Barack Obama's health care plan.
