My daughter is stranded in South Beach/ Sunday 3/25

Lost debit card. Found some friends who are staying at Raleigh Hotel but don't know how long they are staying.

She went to the Music Convention and stayed w/ friends who had gotten a weekly rate. They have returned home. She was going to find a hotel to stay til tuesday because the airfare back here to CA was cheaper on TUes. Found she had lost her debit card.

We tried to make reservations for her but the Queen Anne hotel refused to take reservations over the phone. Hung up on us.

Then she found her friends. I have no idea, as I said, how long they are going to stay.

I called 2-1-1 in Florida but sweet as they were, they had no suggestions. I suggested that she call a church. I hope there is a bank locally where they can issue her a new debit card. Or somewhere where we can wire her some money.

Is there any DU'er in Miami who can give me some suggestions? Churches / agencies to call? Any hotels that won't hang up on me?

1. call the bank that issued the debit card....

some of them have 24 hour service. They may even be able to overnight a replacement debit card to her.

If you are an Amex customer, call them. They may be able to help make a reservation for her without a card.
They did it for me when I had my handbag stolen with all my cards and ID inside.

5. how old is she? Is she a minor?

if so, try calling the hotel and speaking to the manager. S/he may be able to work something out with you paying by credit card remotely.

6. There's WAMU's all over the west coast of Florida

So I imagine there are plenty in Miami too.

Check their website for a close one.

The raleigh had one room left so we booked it. GAWD. I've never stayed in a pricey place like that but that is where her friends are.

She has the room now and so is ok....if in debt to us.

she's 30 . THIRTY!!! didn't listen to mama about watching her belongings.

Yep, I am in a 12 step group to learn detachment.

12. 30 is the new 18!

We have a step-daughter who is also 30+ and still thinks she is 18!
Not that there's anything wrong with that!
