The Launch Celebration on Aug 31st was another homerun! It was sell out crowd with the Winter Springs Civic Center at full capacity. People representing all four counties in District 24 came to enjoy the delicious dinner and inspiring speakers. We raised $2500! Thank you so much to everyone who gave. Before I talk about what made this event so fabulous, I want to talk with you about our fund raising. Why? Because Clint is in the news and the coverage is getting more and more positive and yet the only thing they talk about is how much money he has or hasn’t raised. They say Feeney is vulnerable and are not supporting Clint at this point– not because he is not the person for the job BUT because they know it takes money to win. The other law of money is it “takes money to make money”! We need you to seed the funds so we can get the big money people to come in and support him. The ground work laid this month to get financial support is starting to pay off. August 30th we were number 2 on ActBlue in contributions www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis. 38 people have joined the Victory Circle and have received their pins (see below for list). They have invested $100 of their hard earned dollars into the campaign www.ClintCurtis.com knowing that they will have the payoff of representation in Washington that will make a difference. Thank you!
We need you to give what you can TODAY. www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis. Please Go today to www.ClintCurtis.com and pledge $5, $10, $25 per month or make a one time contribution at www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis. The maximum you can give is $2,300. So GO FOR IT!
Whatever you can give will make a difference. Join the Victory Circle www.ClintCurtis.com . Do what you can. Once we have the foundation of money built, THEN the big donors will be willing to invest as well. Whatever it is, please give it TODAY and make us top on the list of www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis.

CELEBRATION
Now for a recap of our Launch to Victory in ’08 Celebration - Milt Farrow who played trumpet for the Grateful Dead and Al Stevens provided just the right music. The evening could not have been a success without the dedication of our team members: Jody Crutcher and Charlie Wiggins cooked up a storm with delicious hot turkey, roasted potato and green bean dinner with homemade cranberry sauce by Jerry Lapidus, topped off with fresh fruit for dessert prepared by Tyler Weisman. Dedicated kitchen workers Delores Shoemaker, Leah Weisman, Helen Williams and Kurt Whitney made dinner run smoothly. Tom Taylor, Danielle Neetz and Kitty Garber coordinated the car pooling from Brevard and Volusia that made the trip for many supporters a fun ride. Jerry Halberg, Field Manager, did a great job overseeing the evening. Fern DeWinter and Chris Welsch greeted everyone and Neta Harris and Tom Taylor kept the contribution table busy. Dave Francis kept the soda flowing, Patrick Westerfield , Paula Slater, Susan Michelle made clean up a breeze. Thank you to everyone for making the Launch a great Celebration.
A big thank you goes out to all our speakers who sung Clint’s praises – to quote from the press release written by our media consultant GK Shar mon:
Volusia County Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) Chair Phil Giorno, Seminole Chair Jeremiah Jaspon and Brevard Chair Amy Tidd spoke of their respect for Curtis’ courage and determination to fight for the District 24 seat, as well as his integrity and honesty. Stephen Bacallao, who is running in a special election for the District 34 seat in the Florida House, noted Curtis’ campaign work ethic and his willingness to work for the people of Florida.”
Other speakers included Janie Holman, president of the Women’s Club of Central Brevard and candidate for president of Democratic Women’s Club of Florida; Luis Cuevas, Florida state coordinator for the Progressive Democrats of America; Nancy Jacobson Organizer for Democracy for America, Dave Katz, a Vietnam veteran and Clint’s campaign adviser on veterans’ affairs, Steven Darksyde from the DailyKos and Mavis Georgalis and Spencer Lane special guests. The unions were well represented as well as our veterans.
Clint’s message : “We are working toward uniting all the Democratic committees and the grassroots organizations in District 24 to support all the candidates now,” “Waiting until two months before the election, which is all the time you have after a primary, to support your candidate makes it next to impossible to overcome all the advantages that have been gained by the other party supporting their candidate for an entire year.”
“The strength of my grassroots organization is growing every day,” Curtis said. “You gave me great support in the last campaign and we were within two points of Tom Feeney just weeks before the election, according to a Zogby Poll. With your continued support, this time we will win.” Thank you!
