The bottom line on the need for rail is that the voters expressed their wish to have such technology. More to the point, though, the Interstate Traveler will create tens of thousands of green collar jobs and dump millions of dollars of revenue into state and local coffers at the same time. Best of all, once fully constructed in the Southeast, the Interstate Traveler can evacuate an entire city within a matter of days.

The voters expressed the need for the rail system without understanding the cost. The rail system was pushed by wealthy Floridians who owned the land that the rail system was to be built upon.

All candidates endorsed by the Florida chapter of PDA are encouraged to contact the entire membership because PDA will endorse a maximum of 10 or 12 candidates nationwide this cycle.

The biggest point of the Interstate Traveler high-speed rail system is that not only will we the taxpayers not pay one dime for construction or maintenance, the right of way used for most of the system will be rented from us, the taxpayers, by the company.

The Interstate Traveler will be significantly cheaper, cleaner and faster than driving with none of the expenses involved in the system which we approved in 2000. It truly is in keeping with the original vision of the voters.

Since I last wrote to you on the subject, the list of government officials who are enthusiastic about the Interstate Traveler has grown to include Lauderhill Mayor Kaplan and Orange County Mayor Crotty.

5. No need for rail transit??

I'm happy for you if you do not have to drive on I75 or I95.
...and getting across the state anywhere south of I4 is just a breeze - a long, dangerous, two-lane breeze.
Among the many reasons why this just isn't a great country anymore is the transportation system.
In comparison to just about every other developed country and a few semi-developed ones, the U.S. lags far behind in providing its citizens with reliable and efficient inter and intrastate transportation options.
Mistakes were made long ago in abandoning our passenger rail network. The poorly subsidized and grossly inadequate Amtrak system clearly is not the answer.
Only with foresight for the future and a reallocation of national priorities (good luck with that) will the U.S. devise a workable and sustainable transportation network.

6. Umm, yeah....

Don't get me wrong, it's cool looking, and I like that it is based on a solar energy concept, but it looks as though it's grounded in about as much of reality as a time machine or a transporter from Star Trek. I mean, you might as well attach cars to flying pigs right now.

Not saying I wouldn't like to see something like this happen, but I don't see anything like this happening for at least 50 years. At least.
