Reed said to see Georgia as path to White House

Word that Ralph Reed plans to seek the lieutenant governorship of Georgia signals what friends say is the former Christian Coalition executive director's ultimate ambition — 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

A Bush White House favorite, Mr. Reed would have to give up his lucrative campaign-consulting business in order to run for a relatively minor office in his home state.

Associates say Mr. Reed, 43, whose picture first appeared on the cover of Time magazine nearly 10 years ago, hopes to use the lieutenant governor's job to position himself to run for Georgia governor. Friends also say the Atlanta-based consultant's long-held ambition is ultimately to win for himself the Republican presidential nomination that, as a campaign adviser, he has helped others to seek.

"First, he's got to get his foot in the door" of electoral politics, a Republican friend of Mr. Reed's confided, adding that the political calendar in Georgia dictates that "his move has to be next year."

I have heard rumors that a top Republican will probably challenge Sonny Perdue in primaries..anyone know who this masked challenger is?

I don't know yet, but my guess is Herman Cain. People swarmed around him like he was a rock star at the Wild Hog Supper this year. Kinda funny to see all those blue haired old women jockeying for a place next to him.

8. Herman Caine is scary.

One of his former aides is now the new spokesperson for the ultra-conservative Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, whose officers don't even live in Athens! They live in Oconee where there are only a very few blacks, Jews or Indians. Ironically, this preppie, two-tone buck shoe wearing spokesman is black. He's the spokesman for an almost all-white bunch of racist businessman who constantly complain about Athens schools while looking to ruin our community with bad developments owned by people and corporations from outside our community.

Have you ever really listened to him??? I met him and had a chance to really talk to him last June in Savannah for the first of the Senate debates.

He is absolutely the most frightening man I've ever met. I know that I just stared at him like the idiot he is when he was telling me his positions. I think he thought I was with a group of other women that were standing near me. I let him finish, then I said "Mr. Cain, I don't mean to be rude, but your plans for Georgia scare the hell out of me." Then I went back to finish doing prep work for Mary Squires (I worked on her campaign).

Oh it was a fun time.........she won that debate hands down and it was my birthday!!! A good time was had by all.

I bet that felt so good to tell him that! I met Sonny Perdue at a BBQ when he was running for office. He asked for my vote and I told him that "I never, ever would vote for a Republican...but good luck with your campaign." He looked really surprised. I'm sure he was not used to people who didn't kiss his ass. He replied that he was really a "populist." I thought to myself: right, you and Lester Maddox.
