James Woods' Anti-Progressive Statements Go Unchallenged
This morning the TJ&L show replayed an interview with James Woods where the actor made several anti-progressive statements, all of which went unchallenged. One such statement by Woods: "When you scratch a liberal you'll find a fascist every time." Woods also attacked investigative reporter Seymour Hersh as a "loony". Seymour Hersh is an investigative reporter who broke the stories of the My Lai massacre and Abu Ghraib torture.

Toucher Defends Bush's Support of Rumsfeld
Today's News Pile played a clip of Donald Rumsfeld telling Larry King:

I submitted my resignation to President Bush twice during that period and told him that ... I felt that he ought to make the decision as to whether or not I stayed on. And he made that decision and said he did want me to stay on.

Toucher defended Bush's decision saying that firing Rumsfeld would have been a "sign of weakness".

a known Bush-supporting dick. If he appeared on a station that did not qualify any remarks he made as belonging only to Woods and not the station, they support them.

Ergo, their morning show is anti-liberal, as you've postulated.

If sexist and moronic. I usually pay little attention to the political leanings of the morning shows I listen to. They are much more progressive than some of the other local morning shows. I was listening to 106.7 the other morning and they played "God Bless America" followed by a kid reciting the pledge of allegiance.

5. 99X's Fred Toucher slanders Teresa Heinz-Kerry

99X Morning Show personality Fred Toucher slandered Teresa Heinz-Kerry this morning, accusing her of being a drunk and sabotaging her husband's campaign. It amazes me how deep right wingers' hate goes. Almost a year after the election, they're still taking pot shots at our candidate's wife. There are email addresses on the 99XWatch.org for various people associated with the show. Perhaps we should let the know how funny we think their schtick is.

I used to listen on a semi-regular basis when it was Barnes, Leslie & Jimmy. But Leslie was the only one with half a brain.

I am not their target audience, so it's easy to see why they would not be appealing to me in any way.

one would think that 99x as "Atlantas" radio show would be progressive.

Its not.

Day after Katrina, they were blaming the locals, not the feds.

They made fun of Kanye West's statement.

Toucher has his own website www.fredtoucher.com with a bulletin board.

Toucher will make fun of anyone, and he's not always correct but I'm less put off by him believe it or not.

Leslie and Jimmy worry me more since I though Leslie was supposed to be the serious/smart one and Jimmy the leftist.

Interesting Leslie has cited Bill O'Rielly and Drudge reports as sources for news. which I have a huge problem with.

Jimmy sometimes seems to put up almost a false argument when he takes up a sympathetic tone to progressive viewpoints = he does this I almost feel to tank that side of the argument.

The station is absolutely horrible on black viewpoints. The way they handled the Kanye issue, the coverage of Katrina, listeners never got any glimpse of the other side.

Oh Jimmy's wife was pr person for Saxby Chambliss when he beat Cleland with the horrible misinformation ads. Now she is working for christian right GA Lt. Gov candidate Ralph Reed

Sadly in today's chickenshit society, it's easier to regurgitate crap like that around the office or in the little league stands than it is to actually point out how stupid our leadership is.

In the 80's we'd all get a good laugh at stupid fundamentalists trying to squelch biology research, genetics, astrophysics, or geology that would help us understand our world. Now those stories aren't touched because 99X is averse to the morons Robertson and Dobson can activate to swarm the station with calls and protests. So now we don't get all the watercooler material that used to keep us sane during the ridiculous Reagan years.
