Mike Malloy is supposed to have some sort of event at Piedmont Park
later this month. On a Saturday.

I can't find any more specifics -- caught a snippet of the announcement on the radio.

Anyone know anything about this?

1. From the Atlanta Dems meetup coordinator:
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 10:03 AM by RubyDuby in GA
Mike Malloy Live Broadcast at our April 23rd Special Event
-- It is time for our Atlanta Area Democrats to "Spring Alive
in 2005" at our special April meeting, with nationally
broadcast Air America Talk Show Host, Mike Malloy doing a live
weekend show with us. Members of our Atlanta Dems meetup group
will gather at Park Tavern on the patio at 1:00 p.m., Sat.,
4/23, for sign-ins, food and drinks from menu, and our regular
April meeting info (and to be sure to get a table before the
show starts!). Then we'll enjoy live audience participation in
the Mike Malloy Show when it goes on the air at 2:00 p.m. As
you know, this is in lieu of our regular second Tuesday meeting
for April -- and a mighty fine trade it is!

Will I see you there?

6. I hope I can go!
A Saturday is great for me. Driving into Atlanta in the evening is not always possible. I'll need directions.

I hope to see you guys soon! This may conflict with the annual Athens Human Rights Festival (Sat-Sun). I'll have to see what I already have scheduled to attend.

The Human Rights Festival is that weekend here in Athens. It's been held each year for more than 25 years with no corporate sponsorship ever! There are always great speakers and music! The keynote speakers have included Lynne Russel, Millard Fillmore and Jesse Jackson. All proceeds from the T-shirt sales and art auctions go to a non-profit charity. The festival is on two days (Sat. and Sun.)

I think that I can make it. I will certainly feel (and look) better than I did at the Atlanta DU meetup. I was so sick that I almost didn't come.

Thanks for the info and have a great weekend!

10.  Millard Farmer. I was typing after imbibing some fine Belgian beer.
"Fresh from a "60 Minutes" interview and figuring prominently in Sister Helen Prejean's book, Dead Man Walking, Millard Farmer was highlighted at the 18th annual festival on May 4-5, 1996"

11. See the Athens Human Rights Festival website for more info!
http://www.athenshumanrightsfest.org/history.html

" those who spoke out against the war were: Pete Brosius and Jessica Seares of Doubts About War; Jason Carter, author and grandson of Jimmy Carter; activist lawyer Millard Farmer; and UGA professor, author and anti-war activist Amy Ross. In honor of the festival's silver anniversary, two speakers with strong ties to the activist past of the 60s and 70s were featured in 2003: Hank Thomas, one of the 1961 Freedom Riders, who spoke on a number of issues including affirmative action; and Rep. John Lewis, also a Freedom Rider and jailed for a time with Hank Thomas, who spoke out against the federal government invading people's privacy and eroding their constitutional rights"

I may not make it to Atlanta. The Festival is my priority. I 've attended all but two years since 1982.

Peace out.

CB
