Anyone up for an Atlanta meet-up on August 20?
August 20
BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festival
Howard Avenue at the Old Depot, 5-11:30 p.m.
Live music including a jam tent, BBQ and special children's area. Adults $5, children under 10 free.

This is in Decatur. It might be a good opportunity to picnic in the park and listen to music.

they smelled bad and gave her the creeps
she slayed them all with her party gun

Looking forward to this. Ususally we're talking about meeting in order to cry on each other's shoulders. This time should be a little more celebratory.

And I'm sure we'll all need drinks after doing our civic duty that day!

24. So, RubyDuby, you up for a Varsity run again
before the meetup? :9 }(

My CPU caught fire this morning (honestly - a pretty scary coupla minutes!) and we're taking the kids to Disneyworld on Friday (yep, exactly what ya need to do in July just when English summer has finally begun - and I'm sure I don't need the sarcasm font here), so I might not be able to answer if you reply to this - unless my local computer guy can get me back up and running in a few days.

I try to aim for a quarterly visit schedule, ya know...a little Varsity goes a really really long way, but I can relax this policy for ya!

:)

But remind me to not let you near any of my electrical equipment :P

34. Computer back up and running!
Hey RD, hope you get this soon.

It was an internal power failure that blew my CPU, but I found a new computer guy to fix it who did a fine job for a good price and offered me some contract work doing some website graphics for some of his clients as well, so it's been a good week in spite of the drama (I had a bit of a meltdown on Sunday on DU as well, threw a hissyfit at another poster in GD, all in addition to the computer problem).

If you have some time off, do you fancy making a trip to Disneyworld next week for a coupla days (or would you rather, oooh, have root canal or something, depending on how you feel about Mickey Mouse)? We're taking the kids, as I said, so PM me if it's something you could handle and we'll meet up. We're going to Cocoa Beach for at least a day too, if that's more of more appeal than hordes at Disneyworld (it is for me!).

Otherwise, I'll see you when I visit GA next year.

18. Decatur?
OK, I'm probably in......I have to talk DH into it though. The Depot is only a couple of miles from us.

Trackside is just across the tracks if anyone wants a post meet-up party....or Twain's is a block away.

If anyone remembers the train Depot you would not believe how nice it looks now. They've moved it back from the tracks, fixed it up and landscaped it really nice.

23. Pardon my stupidity
I drive by the Depot on a regular basis...is it reopened, or just for special events?

Aaaah, the trackside. Haven't been there for a while. I miss it.

I'll have to talk my DH into it as well. Fortunately, I have him now listening to AAR instead of WSB750...trust me, this is a HUGE accomplishment!

31. I think it's just for special events.....
It used to be an actual restaurant called the Freight Room with very good acoustic music but it was still owned by the RR. Decatur organized a fund drive and after several years managed to buy it from the RR with the stipulation that it be moved back from the tracks. It's renovation took several years longer to manage than anticipated.

I'm sorry everyone, but I can't make it tonight. I'm just not feeling up to it. I thought I would be ok, but they had to do the major surgery on me this past Tuesday instead of the small one and I'm really not up for much.

I hope everyone had a great time and you guys take lots of pictures!
And have a few for me :)
