> CONYERS, GA - In a grassroots effort to start helping the four legged victims
of Katrina, five no kill shelters in east Georgia have combined their resources
to provide food and medical supplies to the St Francis Animal Sanctuary in
Tylertown, MS. Three vehicles with supplies have reached them and today the first pets are being brought back to the Atlanta area for future adoption.
>
> “ The animals being brought to the Atlanta area are ones that had been
relinquished to the shelters prior to the hurricane.”Said Lisa Zarem, For Paws
Sake Founder. Zarem continues,
> “ Bringing these pets to our shelters will give the shelters in the disaster
area room to provide long term care for the pets displaced by Katrina and be
reunited with their families.”
>
> For Paws Sake, Conyers, GA along with No More Homeless Pets, PAWS of Athens, Humane Society of Morgan County and Rotten Russell Rescue have donated their shelter food and supplies as well as vehicles and volunteers to drive the first supplies to St. Francis.
> “We are currently looking for sponsors to help our donation drive as well as
a van, truck or semi to carry the donations to the shelters in need.” said Ms.
Zarem.
> If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, please contact
Lisa Zarem at ForPawsSake@Bellsouth.net or 404-285-7825.

1. At a Walmart in my town
half of the truck trailer was filled up with dog food for the shelters to feed the pets left behind in this terrible disaster. They had to actually tell people to buy more water and grooming items rather than dog food. It's good to know that our canine friends aren't forgotten in this tragedy.
