Question about Georgia gerrymandering
http://uselectionatlas.org/USPRESIDENT/img.php?year=2004&st=GA&type=map_cd

Who the hell drew up this map of GA congressional districts? This is obscene.

1. I'm fairly new to Ga so I don't know this.
Are there roads, or rivers, or some geographic breaks that determined these boundries? I know my own, but I can't honestly tell you where it begins and ends.

2. I think it was purely designed to maximize incumbent safety on both sides.
Those boundries don't even make sense.

3. The latest districts were drawn by the Republican controlled Sate Assembly
The state had already been redistricted by the Democratic state government after the 2000 Census.

4. State Repukes
Dems drew up the districts after the 2000 census and Repukes sued in repuke federal court and won. The distrits where then drawn again when Repukes had control of the state legislature.

5. Actually...
I believe the map you linked to was the previous congressional map. That map, I believe was drawn up by the Dems. This should be the latest congressional map.

Frankly, the Dems shouldn't have done it in GA, but the repugs are just as guilty in other states.

Kevin.
