Hi Everyone...
I just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to Georgia. Just took a teaching job in Clayton County outside of Atlanta. Being from South Carolina, it is very refreshing to be in a state (or at least an area) that is a little more progressive minded.

I am proud to be a Democrat, proud to be in Georgia, and ready to help out the Party. Looking forward to talking and meeting with you guys!

1. Welcome, JM
Always nice to see new people here. I've only been here for about 2 months, but in that time I have realized what a great place this is- so many nice people here, and always interesting conversations. I hope you enjoy your time here.

6. You might be right....
but you have to remember that I came from a county in South Carolina where Bush won over Gore with 80%+ of the vote. With that being said, Fascist Germany might very well be Progressive in my eyes ;)

7. Hi, welcome to Georgia and DU
I don't think that this state is all that progressive-minded, but maybe we will be able to change that before Nov.

10. Clayton among first to start bus service
Outside the DeKalb/Fulton city of Atlanta MARTA service area, Clayton was the first county after Cobb (which is larger) to start a bus service.

They have a growing non white population.

There bus service ties in with the MARTA service at the Airport and is exceeding all expectations.

Unlike many of the other non core metro counties, Clayton has had a diverse county commission board, and they took some political risks starting the transit service.

Its amazing and revealing to see some of the "whispers" by people in Metro Atlanta, "a city to busy to hate" an "international city" who oppose transit in this day and age. and the power they have.
