Ga. Child Groom Runs Away From Group Home
http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/wireStory?id=1574633

ATLANTA Feb 3, 2006 — A 15-year-old boy whose 37-year-old wife is due to give birth to the couple's baby this month has run away from a group home, and his wife through her lawyer says she has no idea where he is.

Lisa Clark, who is due to give birth Feb. 20, was "surprised and concerned" by her young husband's disappearance last Friday, her attorney, Daniel Sammons, said. "She has no knowledge of his whereabouts."

The boy's grandmother, however, believes the wife was involved. "I think she's got him hidden out someplace," Judy Hayles told The Associated Press on Thursday.

"That was his goal, to get with her," Hayles said. "They were just obsessed with having him there when the baby is born."

Producers of "The Tyra Banks Show," on which Clark was to appear Friday in an interview taped earlier, said Clark denied in a telephone interview Thursday that she had anything to do with his disappearance.

4. WoW, doubly whacked out, this women's son is also going to have problems
I can't imagine being 15 and haveing a half brother by your best friend who is trying to be your new dad. I mean, if this women cared for her existing son one bit, she would have never done this. The fact that the kid she is pregnant by is in a group home, makes it even more deplorable, such persons usually have a really unstable world and a very immature attitude, this makes them easier to manipulate.

5. Rest assured Tyra will ask the hard questions we need answered

6. You know, on the one hand,
this story grosses me out completely -- as a woman, I cannot imagine having sex with a teen-aged boy.
On the other hand, I can't help but recall a friend from my youth, who married a 32 year old man when she was 14. Her parents gave permission, and no, she wasn't pregnant.
Or any number of other 15 and 16 year old girls who marry men twice their age.
I suspect it happens every day, with parental permission. Unless it makes the press, we hardly blink.

So, I'm torn. If the grandmother had given her consent for the boy to marry the woman, would it have been a crime? Does "May-December" only work one way?

8. I think you make an excellent point
My first reaction is: "what the hell was she thinking?"

But I also can't help but notice a double standard here.

9. I agree there is a double standard
that said, I don't see how any person in their 30's could find a teenager attractive, could find their brain developed enough to have intelligent conversation, could even relate in terms of music, styles, etc. I think it's more of a control issue when it's men than when it's women. But then women are becoming equal in the ways that seem to defy our gender standards, that's for sure. Shooting coworkers, lots of girl teens doing violent crimes, etc.

12. I agree. Plus I think Desperate Housewives has glamorized it....
Still, there's a sting operation going on right now in GA where men are being arrested for trying to meet up and have sex with underage girls they met online. I think in some of those cases, the men thought the girls were older. Some knew they were younger and still wanted to have sex with them.

I think Lisa Clark is a sad person who made some very bad decisions.

10. I'm so confused...
How can it be a crime if they're married? And how can it be legal for a 15 year old to marry?

11. A 15 year old can marry in Georgia if the couple is pregnant at the time.
The law may include 14 years olds too. I suppose this was a way to get around the you have to be 16 to be married law when faced with an unplanned pregnancy.
