Dear Best Friends Members, Janet Reardon of Atlanta, Georgia, needs help lobbying for a colony of feral cats who have been served with an eviction notice!! Janet recently began caring for the colony of 15 cats, and has already neutered and vaccinated 11 of them. But the kitties have been living behind and beneath an old, rundown building on the campus of an Atlanta hospital for years. During that time, they have maintained a very low profile (as ferals do) and never come into contact with patients, who enter only through the front of the building. However, the hospital administration recently took note of these cats and wants them gone. Despite her pleas, the administration has already refused to budge on allowing the colony to remain at the hospital. Now Janet urgently needs help convincing the management to give her more time to relocate the cats without their interference. "It might be helpful if a few experienced trappers could write emails explaining that it takes a bit more time and expertise to re-trap cats," Janet says. "Also, I am considering sheltering some in a wooded area behind my own home and would like to reach out to anyone who might be able to shelter two or three ferals in their backyard." If you know of anyone who can help Janet with this colony, please have them contact her directly at (404) 778-1592 or janet.reardon@oz.ped.emory.edu. You can also help by forwarding this email to feral-friendly folks in the Atlanta area who might be able to help. Thanks in advance for your time and attention, and as always, thank you for EVERYTHING you do to help animals.
