1. If Cox can beat Perdue that would be very impressive.
What's more if she gets in there and does a good job I bet she could eventually be national ticket material. A female Democratic governor of Georgia? That sounds mighty interesting.

2. For a Republican, Perdue hasn't been such a bad governor.
But I sure would like to see Cox as our next governor.

5. I don't mean to be contrary ...
but I can't resist in this instance. Personally, I can't think of a single thing that Purdue has done right. In fact, every time I hear his name it's attached to some God-awful proposal that I detest. Perhaps those who think Purdue hasn't been so bad just haven't been paying attention.

I mean, seriously! What did we do to deserve these three pustules?

8. I have to totally disagree. Perdue has ruined Georgia.
I would rather have the old Zell back.

Perdue has been the leader in the effort to environmentally, socially and financially ruin, rape and pillage our state. :grr:

12. The secrecy bills passed on his watch have tainted his reputation
as well as his pandering to the agricultural lobby in education funding at the expense of science, math, etc.

I'm more than happy to give Purdue credit for some things, like the smoking ban and his support for schools, but his "spoils system" style of governing is not something I like to see in Georgia.

16. What are his notable accomplishments?
I have to agree that his secrecy, environmental record etc... Not to mention the fact that he never beat Roy Barnes. Diebold did and that fact should not be forgotten. I don't see how a state that is 40% minority can be so red with out Diebold.

3. Sadly, looks like you guys will get to keep Perdue for another term
I'm form Alabama, and we seem to be in the same boat with regards to our Repub Governor, Bob Riley.

Overall, Riley hasn't been a bad Governor, though I'd rather have a Democratic gov. in any instance.

Of course, the rebel-flag nut-cases still hate Perdue, Right? Maybe they'll help swing the vote.

Best of luck, neighbors.

4. The flaggers hate his guts
They show up at every event he does with huge signs and banners. I began seeing the Punt Perdue signs with the confederate flag on them months ago. They are organized and they don't forget and they won't let others either.

Another group that is pissed is the teachers. He pandered to them in the worst way in 2002 and they were mad at Barnes so that was another large group that went for Sonny. I daresay he won't be getting their support this time.

6. I'm not so sure. Perdue will probably win again, but he is losing steam
Let's examine the Rasmussen poll cited in the OP.

Perdue leads Cox by 6 points. However, Perdue led Cox by 21 points just 2 months ago. A 15 point drop in 2 months is huge. Will the decline continue?

Consider: Bush and the GOP's popularity continue to slide nationwide. Cox could take advantage of that. She is also wildly popular among GA Democrats and won a fair share of Republican votes in 2002. Yes, I am aware that there are certain elements on the left that don't care for her, but I can't see them not supporting her should she win the nomination, which looks like a lock now.

7. I surely hope you are right!
I'd love to see Georgia (or any state, for that matter) with a Democratic Governor.

Sounds like Cox is gaining ground. May the trend continue.

Unfortunately, neither of Alabama's two Democratic contenders seem to be able to put a dent in Riley's support.

9. Thanks for the good wishes southpaw. We'll need good luck.
Good luck in AL. I'm sorry you have crazy Jeff Sessions as a senator. I wouldn't even trade Saxby 'Sack o' Shit' Chambliss for Jeff.

14. SOS Cox certified the entire State for Diebold voting.
Of course she's going to win, with or without the real votes. Georgia politics are more corrupt than ever and that is why I can't go back there. And the voter ID card is new age Jim Crowe voter suppression. I don't think the Georgians that I know are stupid, but the rest are damn sure cracked.

17. Ironically she's sown the seeds for her own guaranteed defeat.
Even if she does beat Taylor.

15. I CAN'T support Cox
she is solidly against verifiable elections. Her whole purpose for picking Diebold was because she knew the machines could be tampered. A crooked Dem isn't any better than a crooked Rep. If GA is going to have crooked politicians I'd just as soon they be Rep. Let the R's keep their well earned reputation for scum and slime. No point throwing a Dem in the mix so they can point and say "oh look, it's bipartisan".
