Mark Taylor, one of two Democrats seeking their party's nomination to challenge Perdue in November, released numbers from his pollster showing he now leads rival Cathy Cox in that race.
An InsiderAdvantage/Opinion Research poll in mid-March put Cox at 42 percent, Taylor at 31 percent and 27 percent undecided, based on interviews with 300 likely Democratic voters. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 6 percent.
The poll conducted for Taylor by Alan Secrest of Alexandria, Va., a Democratic pollster, said that Taylor leads Cox 51 percent to 30 percent with 1 percent for Bill Bolton and 19 percent undecided. The survey was conducted May 8-10 among 808 likely Democratic voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.
Between the two polls, Taylor launched a strong TV ad campaign. Cox only today debuted her first ad...
I should mention that Alan Secrest of the Cooper & Secrest polling firm also did polling research for Zell Miller (Governor), Wyche Fowler (U.S. Senate), John Lewis and David Scott (U.S. Congress), Pierre Howard (Lt. Governor), Thurbert Baker (Attorney General), and Lewis Massey (Secretary of State).
