To all Pro-Choice Activists in Georgia
Mississippi needs your help to defend the state's ONLY remaining abortion clinic, in Jackson. Operation Save America already held a major protest there, hoping to eradicate abortion from the entire state. Fortunately, NOW, the ACLU, and Anti-Racist Action gave as good as the OSA did, but it did get rather tense - including a bomb threat (no bomb found, but no suspect has been named yet that I am aware of). You can read more about this, plus the messages "from the front" What a Mississippi Pro-Choice Rally Looks Like, by the Jackson Free Press, the city's alternative newspaper (AAN memember)

Unfortunately, another anti-abortion group is coming to Jackson on August 4 to try the same thing - it's name is Oh Saratoga. Once again, Jackson is at the bullseye in the abortion rights struggle. If you can spare a weekend and a few hours drive to save Misssissippi's only remaining abortion clinic, they really need your help.

1. If my old rickety '88 Fiero could make the drive...
...from Athens, then I might take them up on it. =(

2. pro-choice activists are needed here too
As soon as I get the details, I'll post them here, but a dedicated group of volunteers helps out every Saturday getting women to and from a clinic in Atlanta. I'll be volunteering soon so as I said, as soon as I get the info, I'll let you guys know.

3. A repatriated/liberated Southerner can only send my regards.
I don’t know how you do it, but I know you do it because it must be done. Bless you. (And I don’t mean that in a ‘bless your heart’ kind of way.)

Bottom line: This is all class warfare waged against a part of the middle and working classes that vote in their own interests and those that don’t have a clue (bless their hearts).
