GA 03 and GA 12
Still very close in both of these races. Unless I'm mistaken, GA has not helped the party today, and may hurt the party. We may lose 1 or 2 house seats.

GA 03
Republican Collins 73,075 50% 94% of precincts reporting
Democratic Marshall 71,878 50%

GA 12
Democratic Barrow 62,509 50% 92% of precincts reporting
Republican Burns 61,594 50%

As you can see, it's possible that 2 incumbent Democrats may fall. It's late, and these races are too close to call. Makes me a little ashamed on a night that should be joyous.

2. The National Republican Party has poured millions into these
two races. These are the only two they lost in 2004 and they want them back desperately. They have poured millions into the races and they had that asshat Bush here two days in a row stumping for these two idiots.

3. Unless I'm mistaken ...
Marshall's district (now 3, used to be 8) has been Democratic since Reconstruction. I'm not sure about GA 12.

But I hear ya. I got regular, recorded slander messages from the GOP about my Congressman (Marshall), and the pResident visited this district twice within the last month. While I dislike the fact that Marshall only votes with my party about 65% of the time, that's a heck of a lot better than a Nazi who would vote with my party 0% of the time.

Still, I would hate to see this district fall.

7. Unfortunately, things are worse than that.
Our Lt. Gov's office and Sec. of State's office flipped to the Republicans yesterday. I regret to say that Georgia did not help the Democratic party in this election. Our state is, clearly, out of step with the rest of the country.

9. It used to be 08.
It got redistricted, just this year, and now it's 03. Or maybe it was 03, and now it's 08. Either way, Marshall has been the House rep. for this district for a long time, and the Repukes targeted this race for a possible flip. Looks like we held the seat, but only barely.

10. Oh, I see. Thanks, I wasn't aware of that.
And with that razor thin margin, you can bet the Repukes will be targeting that district again in two years. But the seat is ours, for now. Congrats to Marshall! :)

12. Final note, just for the archives.
As per certification by the Secretary of State, both these incumbent Democrats held their seats, but only barely. Burns made rather an ass of himself over the subject. Even after certification he refused to concede.
