Question about houses

Mr Bjorndotter and I may be moving to the Atlanta area in the next year or so. We've been looking at houses online and I have a question.

What is a "keeping room", most houses mention that they have one, but I'm confused because these same houses will also mention a family room, dining area and mud room....so I'm assuming it's not any of these.

Also if any one can recommend any towns in the Gwinnett county area, we would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers

3. ITP
That is ATLspeak for Inside The Perimeter.
Norcross is just OTP.Living in town will have you going against the rush hour flow.Much easier commute that way.
Plus,ITP is where all the liberals live.

5. Hey, I'm a liberal and I live OTP in Woodstock.
But I am probably the only liberal in Cherokee County. It's a bright red area.

7. A keeping room is a small sitting room right off the kitchen.
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 02:21 PM by CottonBear
It is usually visually connected to the kitchen via a wide opening or french doors.
Many times it has a fireplace, window seats and expansive windows. It is separate from the living room and the family room.

Duluth is not too bad. It's in Gwinnett COunty. The old town area of Duluth is pretty cool. There is new urbanist type development if you are interested in living in a twnhome overlooking a park within walking distance of schools and shopping. The Amtrack train goes right through the town which is centered around an historic core with shops, schools and the original train deopot. There are suburban neighborhoods as well - some newish and some older, established areas.

The runway bride used to live there and Ralph Reed (Christian Coalition) lives there now.
Don;t let that scare yoy though. You'll have to live around a lot of Republicans if you move to Georgia! ;)

edit: ITP the perimeter is more expensive than OTP but as a previous pooster said, it is good to drive AGAINST traffic flow in Atlanta traffic.

8. Second on Duluth...
I live just outside old town -- just behind the townhomes you refer to.

11. Check out area around LaVista and N. Druid Hills
Dekalb county, but close to Norcross. Big UU church there - lots of liberals in that area.

12. That is a nice area
I used to live off LaVista and Briarcliff. The only thing I did not like about the area was that getting to and from I-85 could be a pain during rush hour.Other than that it is a great area.
