Pretty darn good turnout with only two days notice. NO advance media coverage and at a terrible time of day (5:00pm rush hour in Atlanta). Still, Edwards got an estimated 3600 before a VERY enthusiastic crowd. Former Gov.Barnes, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Frankin, and dem U.S.Senate candidate Denise Majette were on the podium with Edwards. He talked about being amongst folks with his same type of accent. Crowd ate him up. Was mostly his standard stump speech that I've seen many times but he localized it enough to get everyone yelping. There were a few little jabs from him and Barnes about Zell Miller's turncoat act...without calling Zell by name....that REALLY turned the crowd on. Some really happy Georgians tonight...who don't believe they are in a red state (with apologies to Georgia Bulldog red and black fans)...... Let's turn Georgia BLUE for Kerry/Edwards!
