I was going to reply because I remember that soon after * TOOK OFFICE, he got a photo op with some kids and books and Laura, showing his support for a program which I am pretty sure was RIF. RIF was said to be a pet project of Laura's. And about a week later he slashed RIF's budget.

Sen. Shameless writes really dumbass non-replies to letters.

I have to say that when Bob Barr was my Representative, he actually sent responses to what I'd written about instead of going off on a tangent only slightly related to the issue.

He also sent out informational letters about issues that he thought were important for his constituents to know about. It seemed that they only went to people who had written to him in the past. They were letters, not newsletters.

As much as I despised his actions re:impeaching Clinton, he did understand the dangers of the PATRIOT Act.
