THANK GOODNESS. Now on to defeat the useless moron Saxby Chambliss and undo the theft of the 2002 GA election when Max Cleland was robbed.

1. It's good news all right.
Jim Wooten claims it was souper-secret Obama ninjas who swooped in and got us to vote for Martin, though.

(I know, I've plugged that stupid column enough already, but in case you didn't see it... it's a hoot.)

2. Thanks for the link
I was wondering what dark force was driving me to vote yesterday. It certainly couldn't have been the fact that Vern voted for Bush....TWICE.

3. Funny how Jim Wooten didn't bother to mention that at all, huh?
And how Wooten had predicted a Vern win the evening before?

5. We are new to GA and are having trouble knowing when and where to vote.
If it hadn't been for the email from the Obama campaign we would not have known about last month election (which we voted for Martin). We were under the impression yesterdays voting was a runoff for Republicans only. Since we rarely watch tv does the local D Party have an e-mail alert regarding local elections and information on candidates?. We are from CA and used to getting voter pamphlets that not only tell when and where it gives you information on candidates, pros and cons on all measures on the ballet and who does or does not support them.
When we voted for Martin last month we did not know a lot about him and hoped that it was the correct choice.

6. Hi! Welcome to GA!
It all depends on your local party. Some counties have extremely active local parties and other don't have one at all. I see that you live in Marietta, which I believe would put you in with the Cobb County Dems - a pretty active group. Here is their website http://www.cobbdemocrats.org/
In the top right corner, there is a place for you to join their mailing list.

Hope this helps. :)

8. Some counties only have Repubs elected to local offices so if you want to vote, you must vote GOP
in the primary and then in any runoffs. Of course, you can vote for any party (or parties) in the general election.

I live in a "blue" county and voted Democratic in the recent primary so I voted in Tuesday's runoff election for the Democratic senatorial candidate. That election was the only runoff on the ballot in Clarke County. There are no elected Republican local officials in my county but we do have a Republican state senator who represents 1/2 of our county (thanks to the Georgia GOP and Karl Rove's redistricting machinations of the past 6 years.)

In neighboring Oconee County, all local elected officials are Republican, so even if you are a Democrat, you must vote Republican IF you wish to vote for ANY local candidates (commissioners. commission chair, tax commissioner, sheriff, coroner, etc.) Therefore, you cannot vote in any subsequent Democratic runoffs for state and federal races. You can, however, vote for whoever you wish to vote for in the general election.

Welcome to GA! :hi:

4. Wooten is a real winner.
HE is really bummed that Vernon didn't win...

I am thrilled about this. FINALLY not a DINO --- I actually believe that we can vote Saxby out of office, and that scares the sh*t out of people like that nasty Water carrier.

Thanks for reminding me abut the article.
Peace

Raine
