Wooten, Idiot-at-Large and genius behind the "Thinking Right" column in the AJC:

Turn services over to private sector

By Jim Wooten | Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 07:42 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Despite a 12-year job-performance record that included “fights with co-workers, chronic tardiness, insubordination, repeated sleeping on the job and numerous mistakes routing emergency calls,” it wasn’t until a major 911-call blunder ended with a woman’s death that Gina Conteh got fired.

The quotes are from an account by AJC reporters D.L. Bennett and Marcus K. Garner of how the Fulton County civil service system works —- or doesn’t —- to serve the public interest. A mishandled call for medical assistance from Darlene Dukes of Johns Creek delayed help for almost an hour; she later died from a blood clot in her lung.

Getting rid of bad employees in Fulton is “impossible,” said Rob Simms, chief of staff to former Commission Chairman Mike Kenn. “Essentially, you can’t be fired.”

Right-wingers always get hard-ons over stories like the 911 operator who accidentally sent an ambulance to the wrong address, tragically, and a woman died.

1. I figured one line was enough to sum up that column, yep.
To wit: "Them workers is gettin’ uppity. Nip it in the bud!"

2. That man drives me crazy
I'm almost developing a compulsion to read his column to see what nonsense he is attempting to justify.

:hi:

3. Oh, feel free to... if you're in the mood.

Jim is a lot easier on my blood pressure than monitoring AM hate radio. He spews the same talking points, albeit in a slightly more civilized fashion.

If he's ever had an original idea in his head, I don't think I've been around to read it.

And if you can stomach it, click the "comments" link and leave something memorable.

5. Apples and oranges.
One guy's a lifer over at Cox. Running out the clock as the assistant editorial page editor of a mid-tier daily paper, although he probably seethes at having to report to Cynthia Tucker. He rails against "socialized medicine" and would probably eliminate Social Security if he had the balls to say so, but he's drawing a big salary, has a fully funded pension and healthcare for the rest of his days. He's almost always wrong about everything, and he can't come up with any ideas that haven't been barfed up in other RW venues already.

Other guy's a working stiff who isn't always completely full of crap when he writes his columns for a crappy little regional daily, given away free with a cable subscription. I call him out when he is full of crap, but he doesn't offend me all the time.

6. Actually,
Nate has not been so bad lately. I actually read something by him i agreed with the other week! based upon your contrast of the two, i find wooten to be the more disagreeable of the two.
