People familiar with the Atlanta, GA airport: Any good restaurants / coffee

shops near the airport, or accessible via MARTA?

We're meeting a business colleague tomorrow at the airport; he's flying in for 4 hours and then returning home.

We meet around lunchtime - anyone have any suggestions?

1. Try taking the train to the Midtown Marta station.

There is a cluster of restaurants and coffee shops varying in quality and price. All are good. The cluster of eateries is part of the downtown renovation project started by Georgia Tech between 5th and 10th Streets. The old Biltmore Hotel is the centerpiece of the project.

The Midtown train station is at the corner of West Peachtree and 10th. That's approximately a fifteen to twenty minute ride from the airport.

If you don't want to travel that far - there's an Atlanta Bread Company near the airport. It's a decent place. Otherwise, for non-fast food eateries within close proximity to the airport, you can choose between hotel restaurants and those brass-n-fern style chains.

I found a few Malone's-type places around the Airport, but I'd rather head up to the Midtown area.

If you are going to the Midtown station, head out to your right on 10th out of the station. You can then make a right down Peachtree and walk a couple of blocks to Vortex (great hamburgers, atmosphere) or Azio (pizza) or Noodle (Asian). There's a Starbucks there as well.

If you keep walking down 10th about three blocks you'll hit Zocolo (great Mexican), Nickemoto (decent Japanese/sushi), The Flying Biscuit (breakfast) and, around the corner on Piedmont, Sweet Devil Moon (tapas). The coffee place there is Caribou.

5. hey, BCAtlanta -- I just got this message,

but we did indeed go to Midtown. Went the other way to west Peachtree, but found an outdoor cafe that was perfectly adequate, with decent Italian food and some nice mellow music in the background. Was a perfect place to chat for a few hours.

Next time we're down there, I'll remember to turn right out of the station, not left!

4. thanks again, ozymandius - went to midtown,

found an outdoor cafe that was having a buffet brunch. I think it was called "Amore" - on West Peachtree. Anyway - it was a BEAUTIFUL day today in Atlanta, and the guy we were meeting was just glad to get out of the airport for a while, sit in the sun, and chat.
